Waiting..

If there is one thing that I have been reminded of over the course of these past couple of months is that God is truly a Good Good father. I’m slowly but surely learning that God knows exactly what he is doing and that he has every intention to fulfill everything he has promised. ” All things work together for the good of those who love him and have been called according to his purpose “. Romans 8:28. (One of my favorite scriptures/ promises)

So yes as I was saying, God is truly a good good father and his word says that he does not withhold any good thing! “For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” Psalm 84:11. I read a post earlier this year that said, “God would never put a dream in your heart that he has no desire to fulfill”. (Key word GOD :-), so please don’t take this blog and apply it to things that you know God is not involved in at all whatsoever.)

There are times where it feels like God is taking forever to fulfill his promises or answer our prayers. But,there is a reason our prayers haven’t been answered yet.If we only keep our eyes on the thing/promise we are waiting on, we may miss out on what God is trying to teach us along the way. We can miss out on God wanting to prepare us for whatever we have been praying for (career, business, school, mission trip, relationship, ministry etc.) God loves us sooo much that he would never give us something that he knows we couldn’t handle or would overwhelm us.

For example , you could have a desire of one day having a cupcake business and you truly believe that it is in God’s will… But, you could be so focused on , “I have no money for the business, Who would even eat my cupcakes ? , When will this even happen ?”.  That you miss out on God wanting to increase your faith , wanting for you to rely on him and wanting for you to  experience his peace.

God knows exactly what he is doing, we just have to take time out to sit before him , read his word, and trust that he will do exactly what he said he will do or even blow our minds away with more than we ever expected. “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20

Another thing that God tries to teach us in waiting is to be fully content in him. And no, please don’t try to be content just so God can bring you something or do something for you. Be content  in the Lord and where he has you because that’s what he desires from you. When we idolize something or someone it can become so dangerous. Idolatry becomes dangerous  because it starts pushing us away from God and it consumes everything we do. Also, most of the time once we finally get what we desired soo badly we find out that it’s not all that we thought it would be and that it cannot fully fulfill us the way God can.

So if your idolizing being in a relationship, just know that the person you will date will be an imperfect human just the way you are. He/she will have bad days and sad days and they cannot fulfill everything you need the way God can. Maybe in your waiting time God is  telling you to serve at your church, trying to teach you patience (to deal with your future spouse and kids), telling you to learn how to cook healthier for yourself, friends and future family, telling you to fall in love with him all over again, trying to teach you financial responsibility , telling you to practice keeping your room clean…But you’re soo busy about wanting a “Bae” that you miss out on all that God wanted to teach you during your single season. Then next thing you know you’re in a relationship that you idolized for so long and you’re still lonely because only God can fulfill the void that’s was in your heart and not another sinner like you and me.  Also, maybe one day you’re in a serious relationship and still struggling with issues ( jealousy, lust , selfishness , past hurts etc.) that you could’ve taken care of when you were single but you weren’t focused on the Lord or asking him what he wants you to learn.

Another thing that God tries to teach us in waiting is to just fully depend on him and to know/acknowledge that he is the source of everything. I read a post a couple of days ago that said, “ God will sometimes wait to answer a prayer until the time he is most glorified”. God wants to get the glory out of everything we do. He doesn’t want you to take any credit for anything. Why? Because he is God and he can ! Lol. But in all seriousness it can be through your testimony of what he did for you, that can minister / inspire others. And those who heard your testimony might come into the knowledge of who God is through you. Which is truly our purpose in life to bring him glory and to make disciples.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy SpiritMathew 28:19

Bring all who claim me as their God,  for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.’”Isaiah 43:7.

Like I said again God knows exactly what he is doing. I know it’s hard trust me I know , but we just have to trust him. We have to trust him and his perfect timing, it truly will make sense one day.. But until then wait on the Lord and continue to seek him and continue to live for him.

*Disclaimer* And no the purpose on this blog is not just ,”  Wait on God and he will do this that and the other”.

I never want us to be so focused on the gifts and not the gift giver. Just be  constantly reminded that God loves us soo much. He literally killed himself in order to be able to communicate with us and  for us to have a relationship with him. He longs for a relationship, he longs for us to love him. So spend time with him, fall in love with him , nothing compares to his unconditional love !!! So yes, God wants to bless us ,but make sure that’s not the only reason why you have a relationship with him. How would you feel if one of your friends was only your friend because of what you could do for them???

Let’s get back to our first love and let’s pray for sincere relationships with him.

Hopefully this blog blessed you as much as it blessed me writing it..

Love you ,

Giselle  A. Parris
